June 9 – September 9, 2025

Your entry into your adventure in Christ is Disciplship Training School (DTS) for 5 months — 3 months in the classroom and 2 months on outreach among the Unreached.

The DTS blends daily devotions, worship and intercession, classroom learning, small group and one-on-one discipleship, personal reflection, practical service, and community living.

The Discipleship Training School (YWAM DTS) gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and your part in God’s purposes for the world. It is for those who long to follow Jesus in new ways — with a fresh start and with a different perspective.

Pursue God.
Be activated.

Respond to your longing for a more intimate relationship with God.

Lecture Phase

The Discipleship Training School (DTS) lecture phase provides classroom learning, community-bonding, and heart change. It’s a chance to have your perspectives altered and your view of God deepened.

Classroom

The first part of Lecture Phase is focused on the Messenger — engaging and discipling your character, heart, soul, and developing your spiritual life and connection with Jesus. You will receive powerful teaching from motivating speakers and missionaries, meant to expand your understanding of God and yourself. Issues like the Lordship of Christ in all areas of your life, hearing the voice of God, the fear of the Lord, your identity in Christ (God’s original design for you), sin and forgiveness, clear conscience Christianity, and much more. The second part of Lecture Phase is focused on the Message of the Gospel and Biblical Worldview. The last part of Lecture Phase is focused on Methods — sharing your faith in a natural way, and missions. Classroom time is a chance to build friendships, develop community and teamwork, and dig deeper into the questions we all have.

Practical Work

A key part of character development is serving those around us. A part of DTS is working to keep the YWAM community functioning, while teaching teamwork and dedication. Whether it is gardening, cleaning, reception, or something else, this side of DTS helps you become a part of the community of YWAM around you.

Small Groups and One-On-One

One of the most important parts of DTS is small groups and one-on-one discipleship. These times will allow you to process what you’re learning about God in a safe environment. One-on-ones are usually held with a DTS staff member, someone who is with you throughout the entire lecture phase. It is their goal to help you grow through mentorship and counsel.

Small groups are held with other DTS students. Here, you can see how your other classmates are being challenged as well. With discussions and personal input into what you’re learning, these are not only times to get to know your classmates better, but also a time to experience the change in others.

Local Ministry/Outreach

Personal transformation leads to the transformation of community. You will have a chance to make a difference in the surrounding society through ministry and mini-outreaches. Whether it’s teaching the gospel, working on a community project, or praying for the town or city, your DTS staff will guide you every step of the way, equipping you to impact a neighborhood.

This kind of local ministry will also form part of your preparation for the DTS outreach phase.

Outreach Phase

During the Discipleship Training School (DTS) Outreach Phase, you will be formed into teams with your fellow classmates to take the message and love of God to an Unreached People Group. You will learn about diverse cultures who have little to no exposure to the Gospel and will learn how reach them in a way that they can relate to and understand.

Field Placement

The two-month DTS outreach phase will give you the chance to apply the principles you learned during your DTS Lecture Phase. You will work with one of our long-term teams who are working with Muslims, Hindus, or Buddhists, serving the team and sharing your faith as the Lord provides opportunities.

Your Outreach Location

All the outreaches from our YWAM center go into the 10/40 Window — that part of the world where the 3.42 Billion Unreached People live. Not only is the 10/40 Window the home of the last to hear, the least, and the most lost, but it is also home to approximately 85% of those who remain in poverty in the world. There is a reason for this. The Church doesn’t exist in these places. Jesus told us that, “The thief (devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” and that He “has come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) Paul tells us that, “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms…” The only way to end poverty in the 10/40 Window and to see their lives improved and their souls saved is by bringing them the Gospel, planting churches, and translating the Bible into their languages. That’s why our outreaches go into this part of the world!

Debriefing

By the time outreach ends, you will have seen and experienced a lot of new things. This is why we have a week of debriefing back in Montana at the end of outreach. It is a time to regroup, share stories of how God moved, and process and assimilate what God did through you and your classmates during the DTS. It’s also a time to explore your next steps after DTS.
